WWW :World Wide Web

To access the Web you need a 'Web Browser', the 2 most popular being Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Netscape's Navigator (see my Download page for the free download locations). For information about Microsoft Internet Explorer see my HelpDesk - Microsoft Office page.

E-mail : Electronic mail

There are numerous E-mail systems, but the most prominent are systems that support the POP3 protocol. POP3 is the E-mail system that has been developed for the Internet. E-mail applications that are POP3 compliant include Microsoft Mail, Schedule, Outlook 97/98 and Outlook Express, as well as Netscape Navigator. ftp : File Transfer Protocol

ftp is the protocol used for copying (uploading) files from PCs to Web sites, although it can be used for general copying on UNIX computers. Popular ftp software packages include WS_FTP Pro and Cuteftp.
